The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of MS. The goal, therefore, is to help people living with MS to learn to manage the disease, and achieve maximum independence.
Description:
The National MS Society is the only voluntary agency that supports an international program of scientific research designed to cure, prevent, and treat MS. The Research Program is designed to accelerate the pace of discovery by stimulating MS research around the world. Our programs are designed to maximize independence, so that people living with MS can continue to participate fully on the job and in family and community activities. Funds raised support our local and national programs, as well as national research.
History:
The Mid-Jersey Chapter, established in 1975 to serve the Central Jersey Area, services individuals and families with multiple sclerosis living in Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, and Mercer counties. Although our office services this area, every office in our nationwide network of chapters offers programs that enhance knowledge, health, and independence.
