The Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton eases the hardships of poverty by providing food, financial assistance and advocacy for low-income people in Mercer County.

Description:
Low-income people, both individuals and families, who fall through the cracks of the social service system. This includes the working poor, the unemployed, those on disability, and those on public assistance who have been denied Emergency Assistance.

History:
In 1980, two congregations in Princeton, Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church saw the need to feed hungry people in Princeton. Two seminary interns and staffing at Nassau Presbyterian Church facilitated focus groups to get other congregations involved in a feeding ministry. In 1992, a 501 3(c) was formed under the name Princeton Outreach Projects, Inc. Trenton After School Program, Trenton Children's Chorus and Housing Initiatives of Princeton are currently the ministries that are supported under this non-profit tax status. The Crisis Ministry currently serves almost 1100 families for food each month in Mercer County.
