The David Sarnoff Collection is dedicated to the history, understanding, and promotion of innovation in science and engineering for the benefit of humanity. The Collection archives, exhibits, and makes available documents, images, and artifacts related to Mr. Sarnoff's career in the electronics and communications industries, and to the breakthrough technologies pioneered at the David Sarnoff Research Center. Together with other educational, scientific, and technical organizations, it hosts public events and programs related to the processes of invention and innovation.
Description:
We provide tours, information, programs, and archival resources to the general public, students, and researchers interested in the history of innovation, especially in electronics and communications at RCA. These include radio, television, semiconductors, computers, and electron micrscopy, among others.
History:
David Sarnoff had RCA build the Library in 1967 to house his papers and mementos. His son incorporated the David Sarnoff Collection to protect the Library's contents when a Sarnoff would no longer ran RCA. Since the 1970s, the Collection has acquired the notebooks, reports and photos of the RCA Laboratories, numerous smaller collections, and artifacts related to RCA innovations. Since 1998, the director has recruited a board of directors and instituted a variety of initiatives to promote its resources in the service of its mission.
