Embracing HospiceCare is seeking Palliative Support Volunteers to meet the special needs of terminally ill hospice patients. Volunteers provide companionship, respite, emotional and spiritual support for patients and families.
Volunteers add a special dimension to Embracing HospiceCare’s work. With a warm smile, a tender touch, a listening ear, a heartfelt willingness to help you can make that difference.
• If you would like to assist our organization but working directly with the patients is not for you we can use assistance in our Cranbury office. You can lend support by answering phones; assist with bulk mailings, filing, and assembling packets & manuals.
• We also offer Virtual Volunteering! We are asking for volunteers to use their talents to create lap blankets for our terminally ill patients. Many of our patients would enjoy the warmth and comfort a blanket can provide. If you possess such talents in sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting your abilities could be put to great use.
If any of the above opportunities are of interest then there is a place for you on our team. For more information, please contact Lo Lukowich at Embracing HospiceCare (732-974-2545)
To become a part of the hospice team you will be required to attend a volunteer training. This one time training will aid you in understanding the concept of hospice and its services, tips on effective listening and your role as a volunteer in this very special journey. A mentoring program is available for our home care volunteers, to insure comfortable visits. Upon completion of the training you will be able to offer your time and talents. Lending an ear, writing a letter, playing music, reading or preparing a small meal, your gift is your presence. Whether you can give an hour a month or a day a week there is a place for you at Embracing HospiceCare!
