Mission:
We assure that our educational programs are affordable, exceed minimum state education requirements and support the family structure.

The Vision of the Winter Park Day Nursery is to build a stronger community by providing high-quality, affordable child care and preschool education to working families.

Description:
The Winter Park Day Nursery (WPDN) began in 1939 in response to a community need for childcare. By structuring fees on a sliding scale based on parents' income, the nursery makes quality childcare affordable for those who might otherwise be forced to leave their children in substandard care.

The WPDN primarily serves at-risk children of working parents. These parents typically work at jobs at the lower end of the pay scale, usually with limited benefits and little job security.

The children who now attend the WPDN range from two to five years old and reside in Orange and Seminole counties. Each day we watch over them as they learn, play and nap. We become their primary caregivers as well as their teachers.

Based on their parents' income, about 75% of our children qualify for free or reduced-priced meals through the federal food program for needy children.

The WPDN is organized as a non-profit corporation with a 501 (c) 3 tax status. We receive funding from the Heart of Florida United Way, Orange County Government, City of Winter Park, foundations and individuals.
