TWRC's mission is to promote environmental conservation through public education and rehabilitation of native Texas wildlife.
Description: TWRC is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which provides a free emergency and rehabilitative care facility open to the public 7 days a week. Our telephone hot-line handles wildlife related issues and also provides community education and outreach programs to schools, scout groups and adult civic organizations. TWRC also operates a Baby Bird Program which provides hands-on training and education for teen and adult volunteers.
History: In operation since 1979, TWRC serves the community as an emergency shelter for native Texas wildlife. the shelter is operated by a highly efficient volunteer and part-time staff consisting of permitted rehabilitators, students, seniors, professionals, and animals lovers focusing on conservation, public education and wildlife rehabilitation. The shelter receives almost 5,000 animals and the telephone hot-line handles over 10,000 calls each year.
TWRC is located on the west side of town off IH-10 on Wycliffe Dr., 1/2 block from the corner of Memorial Drive.
