The mission of the Alliance for Environmental Sustainability is to provide Educational Support for Sustainable Building Practices.

The goal is to train the community to reduce their carbon footprint and create environmentally friendly neighborhoods.

Description:
The Alliance for Environmental Sustainability (AES)
provides training and education to our community to help reduce our carbon footprint while creating environmentally healthy communities.

AES is dedicated to helping the general public and building professionals understand the options available that offer environmentally friendly alternatives, energy efficient products, and improved indoor air quality.

The sustainable design ensures a better environment for our families and for future generations. It encourages individuals to be responsible for their own environments, assures the future of our planet, and improves on our current living environment to guarantee a result designed with your budget and needs in mind.

History:
AES is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was founded in 2000 as a vehicle to bring the residential construction industry into the 21st century. The goal of the founders was to provide training to builders and home buyers for environmentally friendly, healthy, and energy efficient building practices and products. The Alliance became the first energy demonstration organization in West Michigan. The State Energy Office recognized the importance of establishing a site in the Grand Rapids area that, when linked to other state energy demonstrations centers, provided information on Energy Star, energy efficient mortgages, and green building practices.
