Abundant Life Ministries mission is "Bringing hope to our community and families one person at a time." Abundant Life Ministries brings hope by helping with emergency needs such as food, clothing, service referrals and youth services.
Description:
Abundant Life Ministries is a Christian Community Development Organization that was designed to meet the social, economic, psychological, physical and spiritual needs of the youth and the their families in the Madison, Burton Heights and Garfield Park area. Abundant Life Ministries has become a first call for help center in these neighborhoods.
Our on-site emergency food pantry is open 3 days a week for families experiencing difficulty feeding their families due to emergency situations. Our mobile food pantry distributes 10,000 pounds of food into the community two times a month, for all those who are in need.
Abundant Life partners with another organization to bring in much needed clothing to our clients.
In our state of the art computer lab we train individuals in basic and advanced computer skills, helping them to obtain, maintain or excel in jobs. Abundant Life provides job referrals and job hunting skills to individuals who come in for emergency services because of joblessness.
Abundant Life operates a Youth Activity Center where children ages 6-18 can access tutoring help with their homework, mentoring, games, field trips and much more, in a safe environment.
History:
Abundant Life Ministries has just completed our seventh year of service to the community. Some of the highlights of 2004 were the Youth Activity Center that served over 275 children in our after-school program, our family services which include the Emergency and Mobile food pantries has served over 20,000 individuals and families. We are anticipating that the services we render in 2005 to almost double.
