It is Shepherds of Independence's mission "To provide shelter and care that meets physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs, while fostering dignity and independence in an affordable, warm, home-like atmosphere."

Description:
Shepherds of Independence is a nonprofit, permanent supportive housing facility dedicated to housing and caring for the mentally and/or physically disabled adults in our community. We provide meals, medication monitoring, on-site supervisory staff, and referral sources for our residents. We are dedicated to helping our residents become more self-sufficient through a variety of activity programs and through guidance of daily skills. Residents are encouraged to participate in daily tasks throughout the facility so they will be better prepared to live independently. They are also encouraged to join in the social and spiritual activities as a way to improve their personal relationship skills.

History:
Shepherds of Independence was founded in early 2002 from a compassion for helping others, especially those in the low-income, disabled population. The organization established itself as a means for at-risk adults who were homeless or facing homelessness to find stable and quality housing and care.
