VISION: Volunteer Connections is recognized as a leader in Montcalm County, providing a volunteer clearinghouse for a single point of entry for volunteers, and serving as a support system for volunteer programs and program managers.

MISSION:Volunteer Connections matches people and resources to address community challenges in Montcalm County.

Description:
Volunteer Connections is a countywide volunteer information and referral center, formed to mobilize people and resources to address community needs and operate as a program of United Way. We connect potential volunteers to opportunities of their choice, and offer a wide range of unique possibilities to make a difference in someone's life. We are very proud of our volunteers and all they do to help make Montcalm County a wonderful place to live. We value our volunteers for their time and caring, and lending a hand whenever they are asked. They are eager to brighten our days, and respected and treasured wherever they are. They are our light, and shining stars!

History:
We serve as the only Volunteer Center in Montcalm County for Greenville,Howard City,Six Lakes,Lakeview, Edmore,Stanton,Crystal,Carson City,Vestaburg and the surrounding areas.During a needs assessment in Montcalm County, community members identified key stratagies to address pressing local needs. As a result of the assessment, several partners came together to form the Montcalm Area Volunteering and Mentoring Consortium. The Consortium adopted the goals of America's Promise, making Montcalm County a Community of Promise. Partners now 25 strong, are working to support the county's children with the five fundamental resources. One of the goals of the Consortium identified was the need to formalize the volunteer process and establish a countywide volunteer center to provide information and referral to potential volunteers and recruit and recognize volunteers and partner agencies. In 1999 a committee developed the structure for Volunteer Connections, to serve in this capacity. Volunteer Connections operates as a program of the United Way of Montcalm County.
