The mission of Women's Resource Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan, is to improve women's workplace and economic opportunities. Volunteers are an integral part of the organization and assist with all aspects of the agency's operations.

Description:
Women's Resource Center provides comprehensive employment services to disadvantaged populations of women. Services include: career exploration, classes on job search techniques, assistance with resume development, computer-based learning lab for self-paced job skill development,individualized career guidance sessions, employment case-management, information on local job leads, clothing appropriate for job interviews from our Working Women's Clothes Closet, life skills workshops and referrals to a variety of community services and resources to meet clients' needs.

History:
For nearly 35 years, Women's Resource Center has helped disadvantaged women and those in a life transition to move towards economic self sufficiency through its comprehensive employment services. Women's Resource Center has an open door policy but targets its intensive employment programs towards low-income single mothers, women who have lost their household income due to divorce, women who are ex-offenders, and those struggling with a life transition.

 From Downtown Grand Rapids 1.Travel north on either Monroe or Division Ave. 2.Turn left at Newberry (at Monroe, this is a lighted intersection) 3.Newberry St. becomes the Sixth St. bridge- head west across bridge 4.Turn left onto Front Ave. NW From South Grand Rapids area 1.Take 131 North to Leonard exit. At end of Leonard exit, turn right 2.Go one block and turn right (south) onto Front NW. Continue on Front NW past 6th St. 3.Continue on Front NW, past 6th St intersection. Riverview building will be on the left hand side. From East of Grand Rapids 1.Take 96 West to 196 West (downtown). Continue towards downtown GR and exit on Ottawa St. exit 2.Turn right onto Michigan from Ottawa. Pass by the Grand Rapids Press Building 3.Turn right onto Monroe NW. Continue on Monroe to Newberry intersection. 4.Turn left onto Newberry, which becomes the 6th St. bridge. 5.Turn left onto Front Ave. NW From West of Grand Rapids 1.Take 196 East to 131 North. Immediately move to right lane to exit at Leonard St.** 2.Turn right on Leonard St. 3.Go one block and turn right (south) onto Front NW. 4.Continue on Front NW, past 6th St intersection. Riverview Center will be on left hand side.
