Arbor Circle promotes healthy development by providing quality mental health, substance abuse, prevention and family development services in a caring partnership with our diverse community.
Description:
Counseling services are provided for children, youth, adults and families dealing with traumatic life issues including depression, anxiety, family violence, development issues, sexual and physical abuse. Services include individual, group and family therapy, psychological testing and psychiatric evaluations all aimed at healing psychological scars and promoting healthy development. Home-based services bring intervention right into the homes of families struggling with significant mental health issues. Services build on child and family strengths to ensure physical and emotional safety, as well as coping skills needed for a productive life. Care offered includes crisis intervention, mental health assessments, counseling, advocacy, community collaboration, psychiatric supervision, medication, respite and mentoring.
History:
Home-Based Services began operations under the name of Family Impact in July of 1987. Family Impact joined three well-established organizations in January of 1996: The Grand Rapids Child Guidance Clinic, The Advisory Center for Teens, and Mercy Respite Center. In October of 1997, Associated Outpatient Services (AOS) joined as well. Since January of 1996, the merged agencies have been known as The Arbor Circle Corporation. This was followed by a name change for Family Impact, to Home-Based Services of Arbor Circle.
