Lemon Street Gallery is a nonprofit visual arts center dedicated to providing quality community arts education to all; regardless of physical or financial barriers. We regularly sponsor cultural events, and support visual artists by offering a professional venue for them to exhibit and market their artwork.
Description:
Lemon Street Gallery is a nonprofit visual art facility located in Kenosha, WI. Our business name is Lemon Street Gallery & Artspace, Inc. We opened in the fall of 1999, and have grown from a handful of artists to more than 35 members. These artists work in a wide variety of media from drawing, painting and prints, to textiles and photography. Wednesday through Sunday, visitors have the opportunity to meet artists, see a working stained glass studio, and browse three exhibit halls. The Main Gallery showcases the remarkable variety offered by our members. Look for new work quarterly. Every four week, in the Private Gallery, we feature one of our artists in a solo show with a reception on Friday night or Sunday afternoon. Each January, April, July and October, our Brick Gallery is installed with a variety of exhibits, from juried shows to community-based invitationals. In the cooperative spirit, our members and other art educators share their talents by teaching a wide range of art classes from traditional drawing and painting, to the unusual, like Picassiette, soap-making and bookbinding. Each year we partner with local organizations, providing arts programs to typically underserved people like youth, the elderly, physically/mentally challenged and folks who would not otherwise have access to affordable (sometimes free) arts experiences.
