Aurora Health Care, a not for profit health care organization, was created around a single idea: There is a better way to provide health care. We are working with physicians to provide better access, better service and better outcomes for their patients than they can find anywhere else.
Description:
Volunteers at Aurora Medical Center serve patients and visitors in many ways. They staff reception areas and greet guests. They help patients and visitors get to their destinations. Volunteers provide a transport service. They wheel out-patients to their vehicles after surgery and offer a pick-up and delivery service facility-wide. Volunteers have a movie library from which they take requests and deliver movies to patients in their rooms. Volunteers operate and staff the hospital Gift Corner where they offer unique and affordable gift items. Also, volunteers assist staff by doing other things, such as clerical filing, compiling packets and photocopying. In a unique program, Volunteers serve Kenosha area schools by hosting classes at the hospital. In a two-hour session, Mini Medic volunteers teach first graders about medical care and show them what to expect if they should go to the hospital.
