Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. This mission, along with the Girl Scout Promise and Law (below) are the foundation of all we do. By saying the Promise, girls are pledging to live by the elements of the Law, and those elements are incorporated into all program activities to bring them to life.
History:
You already know that Girl Scouts has been impacting girls’ lives for a long time. Perhaps you, your wife, your mother or grandmother were members as girls. The movement is strong today because it has grown since 1912. Our national organization, Girl Scouts of the USA, celebrated its 95th Anniversary in 2007 and is looking ahead to a huge centennial in 2012. Here in Colorado, Girl Scouts of Colorado was formed in 2007 by a merger of the five legacy councils that had been serving the state, and the incorporation of nine counties that were previously served by councils in border states. As our statewide council begins its journey, we have the proud histories of our legacy councils and our national organization upon which to build.
