It is the mission of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity to follow the example of Jesus Christ by providing simple, decent places to live for families who can not afford homes by conventional means, through building and rehabilitating houses in partnership with the community and prospective homeowners.
History:
Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a worldwide, non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. . Habitat for Humanity challenges people of all faiths, traditions and cultural backgrounds to join in partnership, through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, with low-income families to improve the conditions in their community. Our Habitat homes are sold at no-profit to partner families, and financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving “Fund for Humanity” that is used to build more affordable homes for citizens of El Paso County.
