Friends of Cottage Lake (FOCL) is a non-profit, community-based group committed to improving and defending the health and continued enjoyment of Cottage Lake in Woodinville, WA.
Description:
Friends of Cottage Lake (FOCL) is working closely with King County and other agencies to protect and improve the health of Cottage Lake. We are currently focused on reducing the phosphorus concentration in the lake through community education and shoreline restoration. Other projects include eradication of invasive weeds and providing improved access to native plants for neighborhood yards.
History:
Friends of Cottage Lake has a long history in the community and has worked on environmental issues since the early 1990s. The organization has become more active since 2004 when the TMDL report on phosphorus was released. Working with King County, we received a Centennial Clean Water Grant to monitor and reduce the phosphorus concentrations in the lake.
