Vision: San Antonio will be a world-class cultural center providing complete and diverse cultural experiences to citizens and visitors. To support artists creating hand pulled prints by providing a low cost, fully equipped studio and provide educational programs that share original prints and printmaking skills with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Description:
The Gallery and Printmaking Studio allow everyone interested to learn printmaking and papermaking. Artists can use the equipment to make their own lithographs, woodcuts and other prints. Outreach and community collaboration includes exhibition and educational programs that share original prints and printmaking skills with people of all ages. Ethnic diversity of our artists makes this one of the few arts galleries featuring Afro Americans year round.

History:
Started in 1991 by Kathleen Baker Pittman and Le Green in a small studio in the Blue Star Art Complex, StoneMetal Press was run entirely by volunteers for many years. Starting the first international juried competition hosted by a San Antonio organization, we have helped San Antonio become a respected center for fine art original printmaking. The new handicap accessible Printmaking Center expands the educational programs and gallery exhibitions to serve an ever-widening audience.

Overall Experience    Experience rating
Volunteering at StoneMetal Press has been a wonderful art learning opportunity.
Volunteering at StoneMetal Press is a great way to learn about new artists and about printmaking. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for anyone interested in the arts, or anyone pursuing a career in the arts.
