To love God and neighbor by working to eliminate poverty housing in the greater Garland area, and worldwide through Habitat for Humanity International, by building and renovating decent, affordable homes for hard-working, low-income families where they can live and grow into all that God intends.

Description:
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, an ecumenical housing ministry, builds communities of hope, dignity and self-worth through the construction of quality, affordable housing and the nurture of decent safe neighborhoods, in partnership with families, volunteers and others.

History:
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, Inc. began in 1993 and since then has renovated 46 homes and completed 19 new homes in Garland (three of which were new homes completed in 2008). As of November 2008, there are two additional homes in various stages of construction and two vacant lots for future homes.

Each year students in the Building Trades Program at Naaman Forest High School build the "shell" of a new Habitat home that we move to one of our lots. As of 2008, we have received four "schoolhouses" from this program and the fifth should be moved to our lot this summer.
