Eagles Wings provides disaster relief in the U.S. region. If a hurricane or other disaster hits, we immediately send out a team with emergency supplies to assess the damage, determine what help is needed and to obtain local contacts. Follow-up teams are then sent in to help with clean-up and to coordinate the distribution of supplies & aid. We work in teams coordinated via GPS tracking units with 2-way radios and managed by an on-site central volunteer command post.

Description:
We are a not-for-profit, public foundation that relies totally on volunteers. The Board of Directors is comprised of spiritual people of many faiths. 100% of donations go to relief work. Please see our website for photos and more info about our relief work. We are particularly concerned that donated funds and supplies get to disaster victims. We hand-deliver materials & aid to individual households to ensure that donations get to victims and not to middlemen.

History:
The Eagles Wings Foundation arose out of the massive relief effort of Hurricane Floyd. For 10 days in the summer of 1999, leaders of the charity set up a command post that ended up directing all of the relief work for the entire Abaco chain of islands in the Bahamas. Three hurricanes in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 broadened our experience providing hands-on assistance to storm ravaged victims.

Relief to find disaster agency that really helps victims
The Eagles Wings Foundation did something unique in Gulfport, Miss., in the wake of Hurricane Katrina: they got the military to work closely with their volunteers and local residents to reach storm victims, even in the remotest rural areas. The Palm Beach Post's 9/11/05 story tells it all. I'm grateful to have had a facility at which to be of service to the people hard hit by Katrina
I feel that as a small group of private volunteers we managed to set up and expedite suppling a large number of people, with many of the initial items that were so desperatley needed in the wake of Katrina's rath. Hats off to Scott, Mike, and Pete for transforming a High School into a God send for the people in that region. As for the many, many good people that came out and did the awesome job of trying to help these people resume their lives I know you are blessed and appreciated, because the victims of the storm told us this time and time again. Adam Plitt, a survivor who lost everything except for a few items he had inside his truck was both an inspiration and a hero. His personal contribution to relief effort was above and beyond the call. Through volunteering I gained the opportunity of witnessing the true spirit which makes us all one.
