Through fostering `ohana values and nurturing harmonious relationships in the community, Nā Lei Aloha Foundation is dedicated to creating a "lei of aloha" by embracing and connecting all peoples .
Description:
Nā Lei Aloha means "many lei of embracement." The Foundation was created with the express intention of being a solid foundation for all in the beautiful islands of Hawai`i. The Foundation seeks to preserve and perpetuate the aloha spirit, the love and warm spirit of embracement that lives inside each person. Through preserving the values of `ohana, the culture, and diversity of Hawai`i, we can better work towards a society of compassion and truth. Nā Lei Aloha Foundation's goal is to build caring and healthy communities through promoting intergenerational relationships, encouraging leadership development in underprivileged communities, and acting as a convener and catalyst to create harmony within the vibrant and diverse culture that is Hawai`i.
History:
Nā Lei Aloha Foundation was established in June 2004. In addition to assisting various community groups and organizations, the Foundation provides support for "Lantern Floating Hawai`i," held annually on Memorial Day. This event provides a venue for all people of Hawai`i and the world to remember and honor loved ones who have gone before as well as to focus hearts and minds toward world peace. Volunteer opportunities with Na Lei Aloha Foundation focus around the preparation towards and the carrying out of this community event.
