The Mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering caused by disaster, disease and personal emergencies; and to help individuals and the Susquehanna Valley prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Description:
The Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers. We strive to improve quality of life by providing disaster services, service to the military and their families, youth services, volunteer services, blood services, community services, and health and safety training.

History:
Volunteers began the local chapter, at one time the Lancaster County Chapter and the PA Capital Region Chapter, in 1917. In 1999, the two chapters merged to create the ARC of the Susquehanna Valley.
