The American Cancer Society is the country’s largest nation-wide voluntary health organization and the most extensive non-governmental funder of cancer research. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is the American Cancer Society’s largest fund-raising event benefiting our efforts to fight breast cancer on all fronts: patient services, education, advocacy, and life-saving research.
Description:
Help support the fight against breast cancer by volunteering at the Bay Area Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk!! Over 600 volunteers joined local American Cancer Society staff last year to ensure that the event ran as smoothly as possible and that all of our thousands of participants had a wonderful day in the park. Volunteers play an important role in Making Strides and the fight against breast cancer and everyone from individuals to student groups to community organizations are welcome to volunteer at our San Francisco walk and our inaugural San Jose walk! This year the 5-mile San Francisco walk is on Saturday October 18th at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park, while our inaugural 5K San Jose Making Strides event will be held the following Saturday, October 25th at Arena Green, Guadalupe River Park. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a nationwide series of non-competitive walking events that heighten awareness of breast cancer and raise money for research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator José Vadi at jose.vadi@cancer.org or 510-452-5229 x302 for more information on volunteering with the American Cancer Society.
