The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers that helps individuals and communities prevent, prepare for and recover from disasters.
Description:
The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter (ARCBA) serves 6 counties, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano, Contra Costa and Alameda. We provide community education classes such as CPR, First Aid, Babysitting, Aquatics and more. We also have active youth programs - engaging youth in preparedness and leadership activities. Our Disaster Services volunteers respond to local emergencies such as house and apartment fires, floods, extreme weather and other natural and man-made disasters. The Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is working to empower local communities in becoming prepared for a major disaster- such as an earthquake - through preparedness education and training on running shelters.

San Diego "Gas Lamp" area theatre area has changed much.. Oh so much. The individual that refered me to the position understood that I was new in town and quite lonely, I was putting my husband through law school, she was a client at the law firm that I was employed at at the time. I believe she understood that I had plenty of confidence and was a responsible individual that would also enjoy the arts and people who enjoyed the same. My first day on the job as a volunteer, I remember how she walked me through the duties and shared intimate stories of her days spent in the Nazi concentration camps.
