Angel Island State Park along with the cooperation of The Angel Island Association is working together to facilitate the preservation and interpretation of historical and natural resources, enhance visitors' experiences, and build a community to support Angel Island State Park. Our vision is to have Angel Island recognized as a special destination for residents and visitors to San Francisco Bay.
Description:

Current projects include; Educational tours, restoration projects, Visitor Services, Resource Management, Gift Shop sales, and the Angel Island Associations preservation of Ayala Cove and the Visitor's Center to make the primary entry point to Angel Island more welcoming and informative. History:
A predecessor organization, the Angel island Foundation, was incorporated in 1975. In 1985, AIA was founded as a merger of the Foundation and Environmental History after the restoration of the officer's quarters at Camp Reynolds. Since then, AIA has raised money for other projects. AIA created and operates the website, www.angelisland.org, which provides a key resource for visitors and boaters to the island as well as a synopsis of much of the island's history and coverage of various projects and events on the island. For many years, we developed and published books about the island, including the award-winning Miwoks to Missiles and Kai's Journey to Gold Mountain. In the past few years, we replaced virtually all the interpretive signs around the island and added a dozen new ones. Now that park staff have taken over the operation of the volunteer program (starting in 2003), the AIA has shifted its primary focus to preservation and restoration, while it continues to support the volunteer program financially.
