Another tax season will soon be with us and Marin AARP Tax-Aide, the counties largest free volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service, is seeking volunteer tax preparers.

Our tax-aide sites are located at the Mill Valley Community Center, San Rafael Community Center, Fairfax Library, Novato Human Needs Center, St. Andrew Church of Marin City, and Northgate Mall. You can volunteer at whichever location is most convenient for you. Experienced counselors are at every site during tax season to assist our new volunteers. All volunteers are reimbursed for all qualified expenses and transportation each day you assist our program. We ask only that you commit to 4 hours per week during the tax season from February 1 through April 15. We highly encourage those who are bilingual in Spanish to contact us!

This is a great way to learn new skills and be involved in making a difference in your community. Many of the people we serve have no where else to turn for tax help and your generous gift of donating your time to help the less fortunate is very much appreciated by the local community.

We ask that you have basic computer skills. Training is required for tax law certification held on January 7th-11th from 9:00-3:00 at the Northgate Mall; the quality of the instruction you receive is second to none, you become IRS certified by passing the IRS exam.

Volunteer applicants with prior tax preparation experience are only required to take a short refresher course in mid January, followed by the IRS test.
