AmeriCorps Cape Cod is a full-time residential service program dedicated to serving Barnstable County in the areas of natural resource management, disaster preparedness and response, community education, and volunteer engagement.

Description:
Twenty-six members are recruited from across the county to come to Cape Cod to serve 1,700 hours in 11 months. Members live in program provided housing and participate in a combination of group and individual service. Community volunteers are recruited to assist our members in the service projects they do. Large scale weekend events are planned throughout the year to encourage volunteer participation. Volunteers are also always welcome to join in on our smaller weekly Group Projects.

History:
The AmeriCorps Cape Cod program has brought a total of nine Corps to Cape Cod to do service. The first Corps began in 1999. The program is funded by Barnstable County and through grants from the Massachusetts Service Alliance and the Corporation for National and Community Service. The Barnstable County Resource Development Office (RDO) manages the AmeriCorps Cape Cod program. Currently five full time staff are employed to run the day to day activities of the program.
