Bargain Basement Thrift Store
[ View Opportunity ]
Last updated on March 11, 2008

To provide low-cost, affordable, gently used household items and clothing to people in the mid-coast area in supporting our ongoing efforts to recycle and reduce waste.

Description:
Our thrift store is open two days a week providing ample shopping opportunities to people in the mid-coast area. We carry a wide range of gently used items including household goods, clean clothing in a wide-range of sizes, children's toys, books and movies, seasonal items, small household appliances and light furniture. Our thrift store is entirely run by volunteers who fill a variety of positions including check out clerk, stocking/sorting, display and store clerk (help customers find specific items, help load items to cars, etc.). We also use volunteers to write thank you notes to people who donate items, bake cookies and other goodies for our shoppers, and to find donations in the community.

History:
The Bargain Basement Thrift Store opened in April of 2007 as an outreach ministry of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. In the beginning, the store was open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with additional sorting and stocking hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The growing demand for additional shopping hours led to being open on Tuesdays from noon to 5:00 p.m. We continue to value the input of our customers and adapt to their changing needs.
