Aroostook RSVP helps promote healthy, productive aging among adults age 55 and older by providing rewarding service opportunities within their own community. RSVP matches the interests, skills and lifelong experiences of the volunteer with a variety of nonprofit agencies and public organizations working to meet critical local needs.

Description:
Aroostook RSVP is a 30 year old agency sponsored by the Aroostook Agency on Aging, the United Way of Aroostook, the Corporation for National and Community Service and many local businesses. We work with partner agencies and organizations throughout Aroostook County to place volunteers in multiple rewarding and fulfilling service opportunities.

History:
RSVP is a national program founded by federal legislation in 1972 and funded through the Corporation for National and Community Service. Each RSVP program in the country (there are more than 750) is operated by a local sponsor. Aroostook Agency on Aging has been the sponsor for RSVP in Aroostook County since the program began here in 1974.
