Active seniors lead happier and healthier lives especially when they volunteer. It's a fact! Just ask one our 550 RSVP volunteers who is serving his or her community. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) engages persons 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers.

Description:
We can offer you an experience of a lifetime!
RSVP is a national service program established by the Corporation for National and Community Service. By using the energy, talents, and dedication of senior volunteers, we are providing much needed services in our communities and changing the lives of our friends and neighbors. As you view this, RSVP volunteers are reading to children at daycare centers, delivering and serving meals, providing hospice and respite care, and many other valuable service activities in their communities. Also, we partner with the DASH Network, area Triads, and the Maine Humanities Council as well as other non-profits.

History:
RSVP has been engaging and supporting senior volunteers for more than 30 years. Over 500 volunteers currently serve Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington Counties. Last year, RSVP volunteers gave nearly 76,000 hours of their time to make a difference in their communities.
