Agency: Catholic Charities Maine Refugee & Immigration Services
Donation name: Household Items Needed
Description: Catholic Charities Maine Refugee & Immigration Services is the only resettlement agency in state of Maine. Currently, the program welcomes approximately 180 refugees a year, primarily from central, southern and eastern Africa, the former Soviet Union, and Bosnia. We are federally mandated to furnish our clients homes with the basics. Catholic Charities Maine Refugee and Immigration Services asks you to help and welcome newly arrived refugees to Maine by donating household items and furniture. Refugees arrive without belongings and need help to begin their new life in the United States. Please extend the hand of friendship to a stranger in a new land.

Items especially needed are: kitchen or dining tables and chairs (immediate need), couches, mattresses (immediate need), dressers, blankets (immediate need), pillows (immediate need), towels, hygienic supplies of all kinds (immediate need), shower curtains, pots and pans (immediate need), phones, trash bags (City), iron, bed sheets, gift Certificates (Hannaford). Cash donations and cars are also accepted.

Donations in good condition are tax deductible. Catholic Charities Maine Refugee and Immigration Services will arrange to pick up the furniture from your home/office/etc. Contact: Catholic Charities Maine Refugee and Immigration Services Volunteer and Donation Office at (207) 523-2729 or (207) 871-7437 X 729.
