Blankets for Cancer Patients
Last updated on June 17, 2008

Comforting Blankets started March 15, 2007, in that time I given blankets out to over 227 cancer patients. With the help of my family, friends and local bussness. These blankets mean the world to not only the cancer patients, but also to thier families. I have had patients tell me how they have brought their blanket with them to Boston when they had received their bone marrow transplant. Some have even mentented how they made thier family turn around because they had forgot thier blanket and they need it with them when they where in the hospital. Just recently I had a patient's widow call me up and said that she had some quilts for me. She had said that she never had learned to make quilts, but her husband's quilt had never left his side while in the hospital. She know how much his quilt had ment to him, so she asked some of her friends to make some quilts to give to me. Those quilts will mean alot to the patient the receive them, its like they can just feel the love coming from those quilts. All the blankets that I receive have some kind of story behind them and it seem like the patient can always feel how much giving thier blanket had ment to the person who had donated it.

If you would like to volunteer to make a blanket that is homemade of any type or donate one from a store, the only requirement is that the blankets are new and unused. The size needs to be big enough for an adult to wrap up in, although donations of lap blankets are also welcome. Also if you like to help with fundraising ie; bingo, bakesale. Please contact me if you would like to help out in any way, thank you Bobbie Dumond.
