Rape Crisis Assistance And Prevention

Volunteer Advocates Needed for Helpline!

Facts: The prevalence of sexual violence is high. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually assaulted sometime in their lifetime. And these are just the reported cases!

For the last 23 years Rape Crisis Assistance & Prevention of Waterville, has been offering support and services for the survivors of sexual assault in Northern Kennebec and Somerset Counties. One of its core services is the 24-hour Helpline. This confidential Helpline is available any time, day or night, for survivors of sexual assault and their significant others.

Presently Rape Crisis is seeking new volunteer Advocates to help fill shifts on its Helpline. Without volunteers, Rape Crisis could not continue this vital service. The 48 hour advocate training will prepare & equip the advocate to assist survivors of sexual assault with information, referrals, accompaniment to the hospital or more importantly, just to listen.
