Champions Mentoring
Last updated on April 1, 2008

The Champions Mentoring Program is committed to enhancing the resiliency of children through caring relationships and supportive family services.

Description:
Champions is a mentoring program for children between the ages of 7 and 17 in the Bridgeport community, who have one or both parents currently incarcerated in a Connecticut prison. Mentors provide support to a young person who can benefit from the guidance, friendship and life experience of the mentor. Mentoring allows the individuals involved to share experiences and learn from them while building a supportive relationship over time.

History:
The Champions Mentoring Program is a collaboration with Family ReEntry Inc. and The Connecticut Mentoring Partnership. Core funding for The Champions Mentoring Program is through a grant from the Administration of Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
