 As a hotline volunteer you will work directly with victims of domestic violence by providing crisis intervention. On-call volunteers answer hotline calls nights and weekends from home. Calls are routed through the Infoline caseworker who phones the on-call volunteer, who in turn calls the client (call ID blocking your phone is available free to all certified DVCC volunteers.) Back-up professional staff or senior volunteers are always available to answer questions. ALL VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF WHO WORK WITH VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE 20-HOUR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM MANDATED BY THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT. Responsibilities and qualifications:
- Availability during shift hours (9AM - 5PM and 5PM - 9AM)
- Ability to listen
- Willingness to empathize with someone in crisis
- Having a sense of resonsibility and commitment

5 Eversley:points North, going southbound on I95, Take exit 16. At end of ramp, turn right onto East Ave. At the next stoplight, turn right onto Eversley Ave. #5 is the third driveway on the left.
Points South, going Northbound on I95, Take exit 16. At end of ramp turn left onto East Ave. Go to second stoplight, turn right onto Eversley. #5 is the third driveway on the left.
141 Franklin Stree: From points North, going Southbound on I95, Take exit 7 (Atlantic St.) At the end of the ramp (stoplight 1) go straight. Go through the next stoplight (stoplight 2.) At the following stoplight (#3) turn right onto Atlantic Street. Turn left onto Broad Street. Go straight through the stoplight at Summer Street, and turn right onto Franklin Street, a small one-way street. Go through the light at North Street, and St. Luke's Lifeworks (our office is in ther building) is the first driveway on the right.
From points South, going Northbound on I95, Take exit 7, At end of ramp, go straight 1 block. Turn left onto Washington Blvd. and follow to the seventh light. Turn right onto North Street. At fisrt light turn left onto Franklin. We're the first driveway on the right. |
