We train volunteer tutors to work with students in Basic Reading and English as a Second Language.

Description:
Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore trains volunteer tutors to teach Basic Reading and English as a Second Language primarily to adult residents of the Valley Shore area who cannot read, write or speak English, or wish to improve these basic skills. This one-to-one instruction is held confidential and is completely without charge to the student.

History:
Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore has been serving the residents of the Valley Shore towns for the past 27 years. We are located in the Clark Building, next to the Essex Firehouse at 25 Middlesex Turnpike in Essex.. We service about 200 students a year. In addition to tutors we also have a need for other volunteers - office help, board members, fund raisers etc.
