Boston Partners in Education enhances the academic achievement and nurtures the growth of Boston's public school students by providing them with focused, individualized in-school volunteer support.
Description:
Boston Partners in Education marshals the skills and commitment of volunteers from across the community to support the achievement of Boston's public school students in grades kindergarten through twelve. In response to requests from principals and teachers, we place volunteers in classrooms to work with students individually or in small groups.
History:
Boston Partners in Education was established in 1966 as School Volunteers for Boston. That year 28 volunteers worked with ESL (English as a Second Language) students before there were such programs in the Boston Public Schools. Since then, Boston Partners has grown to provide a range of volunteer services to schools each year through a variety of different volunteer programs. During the 2006-2007 school year, we placed 729 volunteers to work with 4,350 students in 67 different schools.
