The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Description:
American Heart Association merged its 56 individual state and metropolitan affiliates into 12 regional affiliates and adopted a single corporate structure. In addition, the organization approved a far-reaching health-impact goal calling for the reduction of coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25 percent by 2010. AHA has funded more than $1.7 billion in mission-specific activities, including $665 million for heart disease and stroke research, $630 million for public health education, $246 million for professional education and training and $184 million for community services.

Volunteers Needed for the 2008 Boston Heart Walk The 2008 Boston Heart Walk is Saturday, September 13th at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade. Registration begins at 8:30am and the walk starts at 10am. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the walk for the following: Set Up (arrive at 5:30am) Tear Down (begins at 2:00pm) Registration Kid's Zone AHA Health Tent Stage Area Hydration Stations Refreshment Tent Survivor Red Cap Table Communications Area
- Volunteers need to check in at the Hatch Shell by 7am Saturday, September 13th.
