Our mission is to improve the civic awareness and economic development of the growing Asian population within the Quincy Area.

We aim to help develop a connected community in order to fill in the gaps that can arise due to language barriers and cultural differences for Asian immigrants.

Description:
We provide information referral services to individuals and organizations who are involved in working with the Asian community. We have created an Asian service directly and provide weekly consultation services to individuals with questions about public assistance programs, housing issues, translational questions, etc.

We have also been involved in a number of bilingual educational projects concerning first-time home buying, health and cultural competency, TB prevention, and ESOL classes.

Cultural projects that we host are the Annual Lunar New Year and August Moon festival that provides a day of festivities celebrating Asian heritage.

History:
In the late 1990's the United Way of Massachusetts Bay identified a gap in their funding for Asian immigrants on the South Shore. A challenge was posed to a group of community leaders to organize and create an agency that could accept seed funding from the United Way. In 1998 the Quincy Asian Collaborative (QAC) was formed. QAC represented over eighty community leaders who met over three years to assess the needs of Asians in Quincy, plan and raise funds. QAC formed a Steering Committee which elected the Board of Directors of Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI).
