Hospice is about living. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death, but affirms life, emphasizing dignity and comfort while enhancing quality of life for the person coping with a life limiting illness and his/her family.
Description:
AseraCare Hospice professionals support the needs of patients and their families by utilizing a team approach to manage the entire range of medical, psychological, spiritual and practical challenges that are part of the end-of-life process.
This can include handling the medical apparatus, managing pain and comfort, processing paperwork, and coordinating volunteers to provide respite and companionship to the patient and the family. We also provide, in coordination with the family's wishes, social work services, spiritual support and bereavement support.
History:
AseraCare is a new hospice in the area, and is a subsidiary of Beverly Enterprises, a corporation with a focus on healthcare through nursing homes, homecare, and hospice. Hospice is a comprehensive, team-oriented program for terminally ill patients and their families. Our philosophy is that hospice "adds life to days when days cannot be added to life."
AseraCare follows the National Hospice Organization guidelines.
