Each semester, Boston Cares offers interns the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and learn the inner workings of this unique nonprofit. This is an unpaid internship. Interns should be able to work up to 20 hours each week in our downtown office; exact schedule is flexible. There will be a small amount of evening work involved. Start date: May 19, 2008. End date: August 31, 2008.
Special Events Internship

This position will help primarily with our fundraising auction – Summer Nights, City Lights – date in late August to be determined.

Responsibilities include:
• Participate in Special Event planning committee.
• Assist with creation of event collateral.
• Assist with solicitation of auction items. This includes contacting potential donors, following up, picking up items and sending thank you notes.
• Create displays, assist with auction item layouts, create name tags, and support other event-related activities.
• Be available the entire day of the event, and assist with all day of event logistics.
• Coordinate PR to local publications.
• Schedule and coordinate day-of-event volunteers.
• Assist with post event activities such as event evaluations, thank you notes, etc.
