The mission of the Foodbank is to collect and distribute safe nutritious foods, provide education and network with the community to feed the hungry in Santa Barbara County. We rely on volunteers to assist in the fulfillment of our mission.

Description:
The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County receives food from local and national manufacturers, government surplus, retailers, local farmers and ranchers, and by community-minded individuals and businesses collecting food through canned food drives. In 2007, the Foodbank distributed 6 .5 million pounds of food to those in need throughout the Santa Barbara County.

History:
This year the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County celebrates 25 years of service. Currently, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County distributes food to over 100,000 people through 220 non-profit agencies and community groups from Carpinteria to Santa Maria. These agencies and groups include soup kitchens, congregate meal programs, day care centers, after school programs, senior centers, recovery centers, homeless shelters, residential programs and food pantries.
