CALM's mission is to prevent, assess, and treat child abuse in Santa Barbara County through comprehensive services for children, families, and adults.
Description:
CALM offers children, families, and adults a safe, non-judgmental, caring, and strength-based environment to heal and increase family well-being. Multi-culturalism is a central focus for both staff and volunteers. Programs include: Child Abuse Assessment and Treatment, Post Partum Depression (PPD) Treatment, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Infant Child Psychotherapy (IPP, Intensive In-Home Therapy, Incredible Years Parenting Classes, A Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Helping Others in Parenting Environments (HOPE), Adults Molested as Children (AMAC), Family Violence Counseling, Great Beginnings Home Visitation, School Based Prevention, and an Offender Treatment Program.
History:
CALM was created in 1970 by Claire Miles, a local nurse and volunteer, in order to reach stressed parents before they hurt their children. CALM continues to be the only non-profit agency in Santa Barbara County focusing solely on preventing, assessing, and treating child abuse and family violence through comprehensive, cutting-edge programs.
