The Nonprofit Support Center provides leadership consulting and training to help nonprofits do their good work better. We envision a sector of vital dynamic nonprofits that enrich the life of our communities.
Description:
Through resource centers located in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, NSC provides workshops, networking groups, libraries, computer labs, consulting services, referrals and other resources to help nonprofits. NSC also has professional staff on hand to answer questions about everything from starting a nonprofit, to hiring best practices, to fundraising. Our trainings focus on four major areas: Fund Development; Management and Planning; Leadership; and Board Effectiveness. All of NSC's workshops are provided by volunteers who are subject-area experts, and give their time to train the staff and volunteers of local nonprofits as their contribution back to our community.
History:
Beginning as a project of the Santa Barbara Community Foundation in 1996, the Nonprofit Support Center was established to help build capacity in area nonprofits. NSC is now an independent 501(c)3 organization, supported by our community, foundations and earned income.
