The West Coast Ballet is a non-profit organization that is dedicated in sharing the art of classical ballet with the community of Santa Barbara. The West Coast Ballet is the pre-professional performing group of the Ellen Schipper Classical Ballet Studio. Founded in 1978, the Ellen Schipper Classical Ballet Studio is dedicated to excellence in classical ballet training to the youth of Santa Barbara.
Description:
The West Coast Ballet provides many performing opportunities for the youth in the Santa Barbara Community throughout the year. In addition to the 2 full length productions, including a Gem of a Nutcracker each December, we also participate in Santa Barbara's French Festival, Fiesta and local Parades including the 4th of July parade, Fiesta's Children's Parade and the Milpas and State Street Christmas Parades.
History:
Students range in age from 4 years old up to adults. Many alumni of ESCBS have gone on to dance professionally at the Joffery Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre, the Lido in Paris, France. Many of our students have gone on to continue their training in the dance program at many distinguished colleges and universities such as University of Utah, Butler University, Brigham Young University and many other Universities around the United States.
