As a feral cat organization our primary purpose is to spay and neuter feral and abandoned cats, and to socialize and find homes for rescued kittens. These services are designed to address the feline over-population problem and to prevent cruelty to animals by preventing the birth of unwanted and uncared for cats and kittens.
Description:
The Humane Solution Trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs such as Catalysts’ are a promising alternative to solving the over-population problem and are gaining popularity nationally and internationally because of their proven effectiveness in limiting feral cat population. In TNR programs the cats are humanely trapped, spayed and neutered, and one ear is “tipped” for identification. Testing for feline diseases is done selectively. After surgery and recuperation, we return the cats to their original colony under the supervision of the care givers. Rescued kittens are socialized, sterilized and placed into loving homes. The resulting colony is healthier and friendlier, and yowling and spraying problems are virtually eliminated. But most importantly, that vicious breeding cycle in these colonies is broken!
