Teen Council Members

This is a new council to empower youth through the development of leadership skills and activities that demonstrate the valuable role youth can play in solving community problems, and making youth issues and concerns a top priority. The purpose will be achieved by striving:

  1. To identify problems youth face.
  2. To suggest solutions to these problems.
  3. To work toward solving these problems.
  4. To provide information about YMCA opportunities in their schools, churches and other organizations.
  5. To represent a cross-section of diverse interests and activities.
  6. To impact the adult community by showing that youth can be the source for solutions.
  7. To Increase awareness of youth issues in the adult community.
  8. To gain leadership experience.
  9. to be involved in selecting meaningful community service projects for young people.
  10. To have a special youth project.
  11. To gain friendships and contacts from the are high schools and youth organizations.
  12. the first members appointed to the council shall be selected through an application process. Attendance at monthly meetings. Each council member must perform 10 hours of Community Service each semester, totaling 20 hours required each school year. At least 10 hours must be obtained through YMCA or Teen Advisory Council events or programs.

    Directions:

     We are located at the corner of Highway 246 and Refugio Road accross the street from the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. From 101 in Buellton, travel approximately 6 miles east on 246 to Refugio Road. Left at the light and first right into the parking lot. From Highway 154, take 246 West past the Chumash Casino to Refugio Road. Take a right at the light and another right into our parking lot.
