About Dayle McIntosh Center (DMC)- We provide services to persons with disabilities such as vocational services, peer counseling, housing assistance, health care access, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting, advocacy, assistive technology, independent living skills training, aging with vision loss, and information and referral. All of our services are provided free of charge to our consumers. DMC is the largest Independent Living Center in California and the only center in Orange County. We are a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. Our services to the community as a referral and resource organization have provided assistance to the residents of Orange County and beyond for the last 30 years. We are consumer controlled and serve the needs of anyone who has a disability.
History:
The Dayle McIntosh Center (DMC) was named in memory of a young woman with a severe physical disability who worked to found the Center in 1977. DMC is the largest Independent Living Center in California. Independent Living is a philosophy and a movement of people with disabilities who work for self-determination, equal opportunity, and self respect. A non-residential facility, DMC exist to enable persons with disabilities to succeed in every arena they desire.
