The YMCA of Orange County puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build spirit, mind, and body for all. We build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
Description:
The Mentoring Division of the YMCA of Orange County provides mentors to foster youth ages 6-17. Our mentors offer academic assistance, recreation opportunities, and most importantly, act as a positive adult role model in the life of a child. We also hold monthly FunDays for the foster youth of Orange County, which are fun, safe activities for the children, while offering foster parents a much needed day of rest.
YMCA Community Services Mentoring Division offers many ways for you to help heal a child’s heart. To find the one that’s right for you just contact us and we will be happy to help you find your niche. We provide training, on-going support, and special events and activities.
History:
The YMCA of Orange County has been serving the needs of foster children for more than ten years. Our children have the same needs as other children – and a few extra. All children need love and affection. They need security in family life and the privilege of being respected as a person. They need the wise, friendly understanding of warm-hearted adults. These are the things that you as a volunteer can give to a foster child who has not experienced this in their home.
