Caring Connections Friendly Visitor
Last updated on May 2, 2008

Provide a friendly, caring visit to frail or disabled adults living in an assisted living facility or in their own private home. Visits are recommended to take place at least once a week for an hour or call on the phone for 30 minutes per week. The goal of the program is to address the loneliness and isolation often experienced by individuals who have no family members or support system to assist them in securing access to necessary health care and other social services. If a volunteer identifies an unmet need of their new friend, assistance would be provided by the Coordinator of Volunteers. Time and frequency of visits can be arranged between the volunteer and the individual they are visiting and are flexible. Prospective volunteers are fingerprinted through the Department of Justice LiveScan.

A prospective volunteer will participate in a 3 hour training class as well and background check prior to selecting a new "friend" often living near the volunteers home.
